Location Scouts in the South Island

The Southland Times reports that the scouts have been reported in Queenstown, looking for Hobbit filming locations. Nice to have that finally reported in the mainstream media - it was already reported in the comments section of one of my reports late last year by one of my readers (Nicolás) - three weeks ago, in fact.

The newspaper article had a few more sketchy details, but at the end of the day it's nothing more than a rumour. Remember, just because it's printed on paper doesn't make it any more true than anything on a blog... :)

My thanks to Nicolás for providing me with the original comment! Nicolás, if you're reading this, I'd love more information if you have it! Or anyone else, for that matter - drop me a line at noldor [at] pobox.com, if you want!

  1. I suppose Locations will be up to Del Torro this time round. I have not heard if he has even visited the South Island... It's an Odd business Making Instant Tourist Attractions, I only hope they take it Seroiusly.

Yeah, interesting comment. I hadn't thought of it like that, but given my occupation as a touguide, I guess I should!

Kinda weird, isn't it - in the middle of Wellington there's a small random path that's been there for years, undisturbed, and now it's the famous "get off the road" scene, visited by dozens of people every day!
